Phenolic Backing Sheets
Overview
Originally developed for the printed circuit fabrication industry, modern backing materials have proven to be indispensible for for operations as disparate as;
- drilling and contouring thin substrates
- cutting inlay components for musical instruments
- fixturing delicate materials for surfacing, drilling and contour cutting
- setting up arrays of components for thinning and shaping
- test cutting patterns with delicate microtools
with new uses being developed every year.
Specifications
- Tempered phenolic paper
- 0.093" (2.4mm) thck
- Max. operating temp.: 140°C
Benefits
- Excellent moisture resistance
- Tempered surface increases exit shear for burr free drilling and routing
- Phenolic core cools the tip of cutting tools for prolonged life
- Excellent adhesion to a wide variety of glues and adhesives
- Impervious to acetone, mineral spirits and other common solvents
- Acts as a sacrificial spoil board to protect the bed of the CNC during drill in contouring operations
Applications
- Backing material during drilling operations
- Secure fixturing of mother-of-pearl and other materials for cutting inlay components
Shipping
- Substrate sizes require the use of "dimensional weight" for shipping calculations
