Learn More About PreciseBits

About Us...

Since founding PreciseBits.com in 2001, our goal has been to supply some of the finest cutting tools in the world, to markets that have been traditionally underserved by larger carbide grinding houses. All of our products have been tested and tuned to specific applications, with an emphasis on precision and reliability. Best of all, we stand behind everything we sell.

PreciseBits designs and manufactures carbide tools for the precision machining of wood, metal, plastics, unfired ceramics, natural stone and a wide variety of engineered materials.  We are a leading supplier of cutters to manufacturers of steel rule dies, pool cues, musical instruments, children's toys, printed circuit boards, custom cabinetry, and dimensional signage. As the originators of the "application specific tool" concept, we specialize in developing innovative cutters and techniques for new and emerging markets. If your application requires carbide micro-tools, drill bits, end-mills, router bits, V-tip engravers, tapered tools, or odd shaped little cutters, chances are we either already stock it, or can make it to your specifications.

The founders and principals of Think & Tinker, Ltd. believe in the fundamental equality of all people and conduct our lives and business in submission to the Word of God and the teachings of Jesus Christ. We believe in the inalienable rights enumerated by the Constitution of the United States of America. We are proud to number among our customers some of the best companies and finest people, from every country and virtually every walk of life.

PreciseBits is a division of Think & Tinker Ltd., a leader in tool machine development for the woodcraft and  circuit board industries for over a quarter of a century.

Our Background...

For the past 13 years, the folks at Think & Tinker have been designing custom cutters for a wide variety of soft, non-metallic materials.  In 1998, we began working with some of the best pool cue artists / craftsmen in the United States (and arguably, the world) to develop a set of tools that would bring the precision of metal machining to CNC and pantograph based woodworking.  With the introduction of the SMF milling cutter in 1999, this goal became a reality.  Ongoing development led to the introduction, under the PreciseBits brand, of the PreciseBIT family in 2001 with diameters ranging from 0.0010" (0.025mm) to 0.1250" (3.175mm). Boasting specifications like ±0.0002" max TIR (0.0051 mm, Total Indicated Run-out) and diameter tolerances = ±0.001" (0.025mm) PreciseBITs remain some of the finest wood cutting micro-tools on the market today.

The increasing sophistication of woodworkers and artists, coupled with the steady reduction in cost of high-quality CNC milling/turning systems, has fueled the need for ever more precise cutting tools.  PreciseBits answers this need with the UltraBIT family of micro-tools. Made in the USA, each tool is laser and/or optically inspected to insure compliance with published specifications of ±0.0002" (0.0051 mm) max TIR and diameter tolerances = ±0.0005" (0.0127 mm).  Each UltraBIT features a unique 3 flute, radially relieved geometry that combines superior stiffness, chatter-free cutting, and breakage resistance with the highest flute capacity of any comparably sized micro-cutter on the market.
